Florida Solar One: Beware of Scamming Solar Panel Construction Companies
Deceiving Solar Panel Installation Companies Dupe Customers
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Florida Solar One, arguably one of the most qualified and respected solar companies in South Florida warns customers about scamming and deceiving Florida solar panel construction companies. There are a lot of solar companies sprouting up in South Florida that are blatantly lying to customers and having them sign some unfavorable contracts. These scamming and deceiving companies are stealing thousands of dollars from honest, hard-working people who want to put a solar system on their house. They will tell a potential client whatever he/she wants to hear in order to close the deal. Then they will turn around and perform a subpar installation that will not work past the first one or two years. Many are not even qualified to perform the work that they are selling to the public.
“It is so sad seeing these companies tell customers outrageous lies to make a sale” said Ray Johnson, president and founder of Florida Solar One. “Most people call several contractors and inquire about prices, services, etc. When some tell me they did not do this and simply trusted what these “out of area” other companies tell them, I am shocked!” continued Johnson. “I encourage everyone to do the homework on any company they may do business with. If they are good the reviews and accolades will be easy to find. We recommend Solar Reviews for independent honest reviews from real customers. Some of these companies haven’t even been around for a year. Ask yourself do you really want unskilled workers practicing on your roof? Or would you be best served by an established company with local experience and knowledge to know what it takes to build a well-performing system?”
Florida Solar One recently got a call from a customer whose second story ceiling is leaking in his daughter’s room. He explained that the company that did his work is from out of town and will not answer his calls, reply to his emails, or respond to his voicemail. They will not honor their warranty work as written in the contract. Now Mr. Customer is stuck with a leaky roof and needs another company to fix what the original company refuses to do. That is money out of pocket, again. All because a scam solar company flat lied and will not honor their commitment.
To test this out, one of the Florida Solar One employees had a newly established solar company visit his home. The Florida Solar One employee pretended to know absolutely nothing about the industry and asked some basic questions. “What they were telling me was just a straight up lie” said the person who wishes to stay anonymous. “When they told me that the 26% federal tax credit was a cash rebate, I almost broke character. How do they tell people that they are going to get a check in the mail?! I could not believe it” continued the FS1 employee.
We always warn the public about scammers and deceiving companies. It is a rampant practice in the industry and it must stop. Customers buy their installation from these independent solar salesmen who “sell” the contract and then shop the work to another solar installation company. It’s a bait and switch right from the start. When it comes time to build the people on the job site may be from anywhere in the country and certainly not “local”. People, please heed our warning: this may be a felony, these “salespeople” are breaking the law.
It is always best to think globally and act locally. Bottom line – hire local Florida licensed contractors!
