How It Works: Tesla Home Battery Backup
The Tesla Powerwall 3 battery and solar inverter is a revolutionary product that allows one to be completely energy independent from the electric grid. It can serve as partial home backup for dedicated loads (appliances). It can also provide whole home backup by storing enough energy to power up the house including AC and appliances when the sun or grid is out.
Simply put, solar panels produce electricity during daylight hours. When connected to the grid the solar power electricity is consumed by the home first with all excess “exported” to the grid. However if one has a Tesla Powerwall 3 all excess electricity will be stored in the Tesla Powerwall 3 batteries to be consumed at night. This allows a person to be completely self-reliant and energy independent by not having to purchase any power from the grid! Tesla Powerwall 3 is also the ideal solution for hurricane-prone areas, such as the Florida Keys, because it provides a clean solution to energy problems when the grid is down. It is also an environmentally friendly and a financially more rewarding alternative to generators!
A Tesla electrician and Tesla Certified Installer can help you determine what your ideal battery backup is. For a long time, we did not have the technology to power up heavy, mechanical loads, such as AC units and dryers/washers, but Tesla Powerwall 3 technologies allow its user to power up whatever they want. Whether you NEED certain loads to be functional at all times, or you WANT the comfort of knowing that your AC will work with or without the grid year-round, you can sleep with the peace of mind that a Florida Solar One’s Tesla Powerwall 3 based system will keep the lights on!

How It Works: Electric vehicle charging
Level 1 is 120 volts, which is the standard household plug. Depending on the battery capacity, an all-electric car can require as much as a full day or more to go from depleted to fully charged. This comes standard with your new Tesla and no additional work is generally needed.
The next step up, Level 2 which uses 240 volts. Similar to an electric dryer outlet it’s the most common level used. This level comes standard with your new Tesla car, but typically requires a Certified Tesla Electrician install a 240-volt circuit in near proximity to the car.
Also, very popular at Level 2 is a Tesla 48A Car Charger. These require a Certified Tesla Electrician to verify that the electrical service in your home or business is adequate for these fast chargers. Once that is done, a permit may be applied for with the local building department and the installation is scheduled. Level 2 chargers are the most popular and typically require between three to six hours to full charge your EV’s battery bank.
The third choice, Level 3, is direct current (DC), which requires a specific vehicle port. People recognize these as Tesla Super Charging stations. One of these chargers can fill a depleted battery to approximately 85 percent in about an hour. These are rarely installed at a home, but instead can be found on the navigation screen in your Tesla.
