Miami, FL – Florida business Micropower Battery Company has officially joined the solar revolution in the Sunshine State! In an effort to reduce their carbon footprint and offset their commercial energy usage, Micropower partnered with local Miami solar panel installer company Florida Solar One for the installation of a 33kW rooftop solar system.

The amount of energy produced by the solar installation and its positive effects on the environment is significant. The system, completed in June 2015, will produce an estimated 45 MWh of power per year. This amount of clean energy equals a lifetime saving of 954 tons of CO2, or 929,598 pounds of coal. To accomplish the same reduction of CO2 emissions, one would need to plant 22,228 trees.

Operating as an environmentally-friendly business was an important factor for owner Elliott Alexander when choosing to install solar on the rooftop of his company. “Micropower/Microbattery.com desires to do our part to reduce our carbon footprint,” said Elliot “and we can take advantage of the Florida sunshine to reduce energy use off the grid.”

Despite the name “Sunshine State”, many companies in Florida have been hesitant to harness the power of the sun. Micropower is certainly a solar pioneer in this sense. Jeff Becker, an employee at Micropower Battery Company who has been very involved in the decision to go solar, explained: “This is Micropower/Micobattery.com’s first step towards LEED certification, and we are also investigating storing our energy via battery and or capacitor systems.  As an international battery company, it’s the next logical step.”  Having already begun to see the benefits of going solar, Micropower is hopeful that other businesses will follow their lead. “Companies should take advantage of power that comes from the sun for free.  Solar power is part of our future.” Explained Alexander.

Microbattery chose to work with Miami solar panel installer, Florida Solar One, on this project for the sa me reliable reason that many local business decisions are made – through recommendations from other business owners. “Ray Johnson was highly recommended as the person who can get the job done right and on time.  He also provided the highest quality equipment as a fair price.” Explained Becker of Micropower. “I learned that Florida Solar One is one of the most reputable, knowledgeable, and experienced solar companies in South Florida and the Caribbean. The process has been flawless as Ray (the owner of Florida Solar One) made sure that all issues were simply resolved.  I enjoyed the auto-pilot approach to working with Florida Solar One…sign the agreement and begin taking progress photos.”
